Please be on time, we have a tight schedule! Please do not ask to switch times. Safety restrictions require that we limit the number of players in the gym at one time.

Within each league (ES and MS), SYAV attempts to balance teams with a mix of skill levels on each. At the ES level, players are assigned to teams attempting to balance the number players at each grade level, the number of season of experience and the number of first time players. At the MS  levels, the balance is achieved by means of a player assessment and draft by the coaches of the league. Participation in the MS player assessment is mandatory. There is no make-up date for assessments.

**There is no assessment for Elementary School League players. Experienced 6th grade players who desire to play at the middle school level must attend the MS player assessment. If their skill is determined to be sufficient to play at the middle school level and there is room on middle school teams, they will be included in the middle school draft and placed on a team. 6th graders who do not wish to play at the middle school level, should not attend the assessment.  4th and 5th graders are not eligible to play up at higher levels.
