Summer House League Teams for Rising Grades

• Instructional Program  – CURRENT grades K/1st grade/rising 1st & 2nd grade (rising 2nd grade may elect to pay up in the 3rd grade league)
• Beginners - Rising  3rd-4th grade
• Juniors – Rising Grades 5th & 6th
• Boys Middle School – Rising Grades 7 & 8
• Boys High School – Rising Grades 9-12
• Girls Middle School/High School – Rising Grades 7-12

Registration Deadlines

Summer registration deadline has passed.  Please contact age group commissioners below regarding the possibility of addition to the wait list.

Eligibility

Players who will be in1st through 12th Grade the upcoming school year are eligible to participate in SYA Winter & Summer Basketball. All players must register to be placed on teams. In addition to registration, players in 3rd through 12^th Grade must participate in a skills evaluations. See the House Skill Evaluation Schedule to find your evaluation date.

Schedule

Open gyms begin late May with skills assessments taking place mid-June.  Skill assessment schedule can be found here

Team practices will take place June 20th - June 25th.

Games for most age groups begin June 26th, are held Monday - Friday evenings, one hour duration, and take place in local Centreville/Clifton area schools.   Once games begin, teams do not hold practices, in general. 

Playoffs take place July 25th-31st.  The season ends July 31st.

In order to participate in games, clinics, and practices, all players must bring their own basketball and wear shorts WITHOUT pockets.

SUMMER TRAVEL BASKETBALL  2024

Tryouts for SYA Summer Travel Basketball will held mid-May.  The tryout schedule will be  posted below as information becomes available.  In order to be considered for a travel team, players must attend at least two tryouts.  Open gyms take place in early May and are posted here.  Open gyms are an opportunity for players considering trying out for a travel team to come out, meet the coaches, and experience basketball drills and scrimmages. It is also an opportunity for travel coaches to get to meet the players who will be trying out.  Participation in Open Gyms is not required in order to try out for a travel team.   In order to tryout, players must register for "Basketball - Travel Tryouts - Summer" at syasports.org.  There is no cost for registration for Travel Basketball Tryouts.

Teams will be formed and practices will begin late May.  Games will begin apx June 20th and continue July 26th.  It should be noted that Travel League games will not be in the local Centreville area, (although practices will take place in Centerville).  Please email any questions you might have to Josh Purdy at commissioner@syabasketball.org.
